I built my company with an intentional focus on diversity, and have been using apprenticeship as a hiring tool since day one. I strongly believe this is a viable approach for increasing the talent pool and the diversity of the pool, but it will take a big effort on the part of the organization… there is a difference between being a good developer/engineer vs a good mentor/coach for the apprentices.
